I’m writing this post from the indie confines of a Cambridge, MA coffee shop, while Ruby is at the mechanic to diagnose a rough idle, replace a clunking rear suspension mount and get an estimate for the rear hatch struts. A $900 dollar car is cheap, but in the long run you still pay. While my mechanic is taking care of Ruby it gives me a chance to reflect on some recent changes in my life, as well as how I intend to proceed with this blog.
See about two years ago I ventured north, to the land of the overly polite and poutine to do my Master’s degree in Russian and European area studies at the University of Toronto. Now, I’m happy to report that my Canadian exile is over and that I’m back in the land of the free of, erm, Massachusetts. I originally began blogging last summer during a break in studies. I wanted a creative outlet for my, sometimes, all-consuming passion for cars. Unfortunately, the intellectual burdon of graduate school meant that often I did not have the spare energy to devot to this blog. For all you, like the 2 or 3, who have followed this blog since the beginning, thanks for putting up with the uneven content and posting rate.
Now that I’m a free man, so to speak, I intend to be a much more active blogger. I did not occur to me to try writing for sometime. I’ve avidly read other’s blogs like, Motoring Con Brio, Tamerlane’s Thoughts, and Chris Haining’s Road Work all of which are wonderful and admirable blogs, and I know I cannot match their creativity, zeal and spark. Nevertheless, it is my hope that I can find my own niche, or voice and create content that is as interesting and enjoyable to read as theirs. With that in mind I have undertaken a slight redesign of the blog and will be much more diligent in creating new and interesting content. My hope is that you’ll continue to stuck with me.
